駅前周辺を歩いてみると、駅北は公共サービス充実により医療や教育が充実しそうで、南口は商業と住宅からなるビルで防災機能と施設の機能更新、高度利用が図られ、今後景色が一変しそうです。
愛友市場もなくなるのでしょうね、風景が消えていくのはすこしさみしい気もします。が、広島の玄関口としては寂しいと言われ続け、防災面でも不安定な状況はあると思います。
ただ、建物が壊されると、もともと何があったか分からなくなるんですね、旧市民球場もそうですが、自分たちの世代は知っていても、それ以降の世代は知らないというような状況が生まれてくる。
なにか目印みたいなものが残っていると、昔の風景をイメージして楽しむことができるし、観光客にも広島をよりよく知ってもらい楽しんでもらうのに良いかもしれません。
駅前が再開発で綺麗になり、イメージが一新する方向性にあります。ただ、パッと見た感じは核テナントありきで特徴はあまりないのかなというのが漠然とした感想です。北口は医療や教育の充実は、県で推進している方向性に沿った内容とお見受けしますが、広島の玄関口ということで機能一新するからには、県外や海外からの観光、ビジネス客を意識した脚色があると、エリアとしての魅力が増すような気がします。
